Mabel Penisara found alive
This was sent to us by the Crisis Coalition:
Mabel Penisara, wife of Ian Kay’s Campaign Manager who was abducted by 20 ZANU-PF thugs was found yesterday, 27 May 2008. She sustained serious injuries from the torture and beatings she endured during the detention period and was left naked and for dead by a roadside. She is the first person to be abducted and found alive since the March 29 General Election.
Mabel was abducted on Monday night (blogged here).

Thanks be to God that she is found alive. May she go from strength to strength in recovery and be protected from any further harm.
There has already been so much sacrifice. I found the following Collect (prayer) on another site, and couldn’t help but think of its relevance to Zimbabwe today, at least for those who seek a spiritual meaning and purpose within political or social struggles. I hope those who are not believers will not mind my sharing it for the encouragement of those who are!
“We give you thanks, O Lord, for all who have died that we may live, for all who endured pain that we might know joy, for all who made sacrifices that we might have plenty, for all who suffered imprisonment that we might know freedom. Turn our deep feeling now into determination, and our determination into deed, that as men and women died for peace, we may live for peace for the sake of the Prince of Peace, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We thank the Lord for that one life spared. She has been spared to tell.
Mabel, I salute you for your determination to live - and to work so others can have life in full. Your stance for justice inspires us all.
I wish you a speedy recovery. You’ll probably have scars all your life; please wear them with pride. They are your badge of honour.
Please Sokwanele, forward this message to our Sister Mabel so that she will know that her suffering is not in vain.
Thank you Sokwanele, and thank you Mabel!
Victory will be ours; history is on our side!
