A desperate act
April 7th, 2005
Selina’s husband just called me to say that he got terrible news that one of the MDC “friendly” policem
en has cut his own throat. The image of this desperate man is haunting me and I cannot imagine what drove him to this desperate act. Apparently, his stance was known by the local zanu nazi youth, I pray his blood is not upon their hands. The children who remain loyal to the illegitimate regime are products of an intensive brainwashing campaign, many so steeped in blood they see no way back to freedom, others simply caught up in mass hysteria and a sense of power given them by violence. My mind goes to the images of child soldiers in Liberia, may the situation in Zimbabwe never descend to that form of hell.
As for mugabe in Rome for the Pope’s funeral, I am disgusted and outraged, just as I was when Grace (divorced) and Bob were joined in unholy matrimony by the Catholic church. I never could understand how they swung that one. I am sure the late Pope, a champion of human rights, is looking down upon the reincarnation of hitler with equal disgust. Once again targeted sanctions prove impotent, with our dictator smirking at their superficial and inconsequential regulations.
It is a great shame that so few religious leaders in Zimbabwe have truly “led their flocks” with the same zeal and honesty as Archbishop Pius. 80% of Zimbabwe’s people are affiliated to one church or another, where is their leadership?
