Leaving the country
April 7th, 2005
There is a Biddulphs Removal Truck next door today. There is furniture all over the road and men packing the truck. I knew my neighbours were thinking of leaving, but I did not know it was going to happen so soon. Like many others, they had been awaiting the election results before making their final decision. We have lost so many friends and family over the last five years. Even when you hear of someone who is leaving who you don’t know, it hurts. In the past many people have said that they will return if ‘things get better’ in the country. But, five years later they are settled, their children are settled and, realistically, I don’t think very many will return. It’s sad to have to say goodbye.
