Avaaz Petition: ‘Save Zimbabwe from Mugabe’

Avaaz have produced this advert (click to enlarge) to appear in newspapers throughout the region this week. Please visit the Avaaz site and sign their petition. Be sure to encourage everyone you know to do so too.

In elections this March, the people of Zimbabwe sent a clear message: Morgan Tsvangirai, not Robert Mugabe, should lead their government.

Since then, through a campaign of violence, fraud, and intimidation, Mugabe’s government has undermined any hope for a legitimate run-off on June 27. The MDC has, appropriately, withdrawn. But this is not a concession of victory — it is an acknowledgment of reality.

Now, the world’s eyes turn to the leaders of Southern Africa — without whom even Mugabe cannot retain power. Please sign on to this message to Thabo Mbeki and other Southern African leaders, and Avaaz will deliver it this week in newspaper ads throughout the region

The petition, addressed to Thabo Mbeki and other regional leaders, reads:

We call on you to hold an emergency meeting of Southern African leaders, to work by all means necessary for a legitimate Zimbabwean government that reflects the will of its people, and to decisively isolate those who stand in the way of a peaceful, democratic future for Zimbabwe.

Looks like the regime have had a busy week. Also had one of their defense pact buddies over from Namibia.

NDF chief’s sudden visit to Harare raises questions

Not surprised. Read somewhere most of their tanks are non-operational.

    And also from Iran

IRAN is ready for the implementation of all agreements

Mbeki’s legacy is entirely tied to the 2010 World Cup. He doesn’t have anything else to show for his presidency - his might be the only country in the world (aside from Zimbabwe!) that has a flagging currency vis a vis the dollar. Not very impressive financial stewardship. So he needs the World Cup to polish his credentials. By organizing a grassroots threat of boycott of the World Cup, we might finally be able to see some action. http://zimsolidarity.blogspot.com/

    @ Faraway, ‘The mind boggles’.

Yes indeed. Islam is on the march everywhere. Heaven knows how many untold numbers of Muslim women worldwide live lives of misery in polygamous relationships under their Muslim
‘masters’, and we all know where Iran’s nuclear technology is leading. And this bullshit from the Ambassador of a country that wants to wipe another small country, Israel, off the map. I don’t know who’s worse; Mugabe or armdinnerjacket? Both are evil, I hope they sink together into Hellfire very soon.

Liberation war and post war credentials of the mighty Robert Mugabe.

    1. Cutting people’s lips for being sell outs.
    2. Beating people to death using arm-thick logs, for being so called sellouts.
    3. Burning people’s homes in both rural and urban settings.
    4. Being a tribalist, racist and A homophobic.
    5. Starving and depriving locals of medication for political gain.
    6. Mass murders in matabeleland and the midlands.
    7. Looting the DRC.
    8. Murdering white people for their land using spurious racists grounds for repossession.
    9. Exiling a third of the country’s population.
    10. Bullying other African statesmen into tolarating his gimicks.
    11. Elections without any manifestos taking people for granted.
    12. Viewing any credible opposition with xenophbic and totalitarian eyes.
    13. Re-educating people through murder, torture and disappearances.
    14. Dehumanising and brutalising the youth to murder their own people in rural and now right in the middle of Harare and other urban areas.

And some people like Stephen Gowans view him as a true revolutionary.

Am I missing something, ever heard of fixation in its most negative sense. That’s what Zanu is cultivating.
A real dry turd on the African veil of democracy indeed!!!
