Thank you, from Sokwanele

April 5th, 2005

We’re very new to blogging, and are overwhelmed by the number of people who have supported us. The attention was reflected in a ten-fold increase in visitors to our site, and we have had more people subscribing to our newsletter in the last few days than we have in the last year!

Thanks especially to the Guardian UK, who made our blog their Pick of the day on March 30th, and yesterday they published an article written by Sokwanele. Their interest in our blog undoubtably drew the attention of many other people to Zimbabwe’s plight, and introduced our movement to a new audience who now know that ‘Sokwanele’ means ‘Enough is Enough’! in English.

And thank you to all the bloggers out there who kept track of what we were posting on a day to day basis. We don’t know who all of you are – please email us and let us know. We haven’t posted recently, but we’re not going away. Like all Zimbabweans, we’re bruised and utterly stunned at the arrogance of the election theft. The rigging report we promised you is in its final stages, and outlines very clearly the rigging events and actions that took place on the night.

Finally, to all the Zimbabweans in the diaspora who wrote in to thank us for our blog. We’re glad it helped you feel like you were in touch with familiar voices from Zimbabwe. We all look forward to welcoming you home.

In the meanwhile, Sokwanele continues to work towards the goal of a free, peaceful and democratic Zimbabwe, where tyranny and oppression can never take place again.

We’re not going away, and we’re not giving up.
