Sympathy on the death of Pope John Paul II
Sokwanele expresses its deep sadness over the death of the Holy Father in Rome today. We salute a great Christian leader who had a heart for the little people of the world, and demonstrated a real solidarity with the poor and the oppressed. We recognize his significant contribution to ecumenical cooperation and better understanding between different Christian traditions. We deeply honour the strength, courage and quiet dignity he demonstrated in his stand against totalitarianism. The world is a poorer place without this humble servant of God, but we are all enriched by his spiritual legacy.
