    What a fool he makes of himself! Mugabe is obsessed with Britain.

    “Those whom the Gods seek to destroy they first make mad” is coming more true by the day.

    I have to say, watching Ch4 news last night and seeing Mugabe was the first time that I have seen and heard first hand the signs of senility. He couldn’t even get right the country where Gordon Brown is Prime Minister.

    So often we see him groomed and preening on the world stage but, he was so riled by this interaction – very heartening to see that his patience is wearing thin with all this attention. May our patience and persistence endure!!

    Forever in the struggle for democracy!

    Charamba says people must go hang a thousand times. He insists on pro Zimbabwean politics. Is he suggesting something born of similar conditions as the ZAPU/zanu so called unity accord. Smith Also talked of a similar number. Methinks there’s magic in the number 1000. To me the Kenyan Prime minister is the top man. The rest are quite and docile, possibly confused. If my memory serves me well, KOFI ANNAN brokerd the Kenyan peace talks. Has Charamba also gone demented.

    Don’t shoot me down here, cause it’s just speculation, but maybe Mugabe isn’t the one we should be so concerned about. Isn’t it feasible that Mugabe himslef is being controlled by someone else within his ranks? By this I mean, that someone has seen the man’s obsession with liberation, Britain and the West and his paranoia about such things (possibly related to declining mental functioning and guilt, and denial) and is capitalizing on it for their own agendas. I’m not absolving Mugabe of guilt, and I don’t presume to know what life has been like in Zim for the past 28 years, but I wonder if that in recent years, someone else is really pulling the strings of power. Is it credible that this recent wave of violence is being orchestrated by other high ranking members of Zanu-PF as well as the economical disasters, rigged elections etc? Maybe Mugabe is living in his delusions which are being reinforced by lies being told him by his ‘advisers’. Perhaps he really does think it was a landslide election. It probably wouldn’t take much to get him to believe lies, given his paranoia and delusions. What would really happen if Mugabe was to suddenly die a natural death tomorrow for example? Would it really make that much difference? Who’s really in charge?
    Just wondering.

    I’m so bored of this persistent sentiment against my country that I’m on the verge of thinking “Alright, fine, yeah we’ll take it back”, let’s have an invasion and stick a pointed union jack through Mugabe’s skull atop the parliament building in Harare and install and old white guy in khaki to govern the country on behalf of the Queen from a stately home.

    On a realistic note, I say just sever diplomatic ties, impose a travel ban on Zimbabwean citizens entering the UK and forget the country exists.

    Very sad indeed. His own actions are haunting him and that is why the questions bothered him to the core. To think that someone can have such hunger for power at the cost of the very people he claims to have liberated…sad indeed.

    @ErinNZ: You’re nearly there.

    Mugabe the man himself is but a hollow shell. He is but the monkey dancing on the barrel organ, rattling a tin cup.

    It is his military general staff (and other ZANU-PF hard-liners) who are turning the handle.

    The Zimbabwean political and military establishment is so thoroughly blood-stained with ZANU-PF’s atrocities that the only way to survive now is to physically wipe out all opposition.

    If Morgan Tsvangarai had come to power, they would sooner or later have been slung in jail and put on trial for crimes against humanity. And all the colloratoration by people in other countries would come to light, which is a large proportion of black Africa.

    The shit will have hit the fan in the African Union in a big way, for this will also expose the systematic pillaging (by Zimbabwe and about 20 other African countries) of the Congo’s natural and mineral resources. It is not just “blood diamonds”, but much much more.

    Zimbabwe would have been the first domino to fall and bring down a whole wall of thievery, butchery and corruption. This is why Mugabe is still being lauded by African politicians – the money from the gang-pillage of the DNC is propping up all their economies.

    I think this person called Mugabe is trully demon possessed. Honestly a normal human being can not be this evil against his own countrymen and sleep well at night. I grew up thinking he was the best thing that ever happened to Zimbabwe but I guess I was fooled just like the rest of the world. I am even ashamed to say I am a Zimbabwean simply because the rest of the world thinks we all are evil at heart like our leader. Those other African leaders also have serious issues and if they are not carefull they are heading the same road. Someday though this too shall pass

    ErinNZ and DWMF have hit the nail on the head. Who on earth, would live under such enourmous pressure unless they were completely ignorant as to what was actually going on around them. There is no rule of law in Zimbabwe, why would my frineds, collegues and fellow countrymen be dying, tortured, killed, starved and neglected. Do not forget Zimbabwe, they are a beautiful people, who appreciate life and peace, who smile at you whether they are suffering or not. No man with a heart who has ever been to Zimbabwe will ever forget this beautiful place. I am proud to say I am a Zimbabwean, this does not put me in the same box as the “president”. I pray everyday for peace and hope that one day I can go home.
