Reuben Mutewe: murdered by Zanu PF militia
Reuben Mutewe was abducted from his home on the 31 June 2008 by armed ZANU PF militias who accused him of mobilizing people in the area to vote for MDC in the March harmonized elections. He was held and tortured at Bedza torture base by militia led by Patrick Chimbare, Enos Chimbare and Funny Mambare. They attacked him using machetes, axes and iron bars.
He sustained deep cuts, internal injuries, broken legs and ribs. Reuben was left for dead by the youth militia.
The following day he was taken to Murambinda Hospital by a good Samaritan where he stayed until his death on 12 June 2008. According to the information circulated by the MDC, there was no medicine at Murambinda, and this led to a painful death.
Reuben Mutewe was 38 years old and came from Muteve village, Ward 16, Chief Nyashanu in Buhera. He had been the MDC Muteve Branch chairman since the party’s formation in 1999.
Reuben Mutewe’s body was taken to Mutare Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem. The post-mortem confirmed that he had died of excessive bleeding and clotting of blood and punctured lungs. The MDC Provincial Office was advised by a sympathiser working at the mortuary and they were clandestinely permitted to photograph his body.
The MDC in Manicaland suspects that as many as 100 of its supporters may have been killed in Buhera alone and say that investigations are in progress. There are fears that the number of murdered MDC activists and supporters is well above 500 as shallow graves continue to be unearthed countrywide and still more people reported as abducted are still missing to date.

Oh how sad that this is still going on and when and where is this all going to end. My prayers are with those families and all the people that are suffering at the hands of these criminals.May the world help end this now.

Could you post something on the general organisation and the character of those militias? You write, the murderers were Youths. Is this common and how are they bound to do this? Are they concerted?

the militia are those stupid guys who have been unemployed for a long time. they forget that their unemployment is due to this evil government policies that caused most companies closing down. rumours has it that they have been promised bonuses for killing and focring people to vote for Mugabe.no amount of money justifies the killing of even one soul. what goes around comes around, time will come when all murderers and their sponsors will stand trial for it. it might be long but it will come. How i wish that most of these evil people be alive until they are tried for the evil deeds. Cry beloved country.
