MDC activists abducted and torture victims unable to access medical care – Buhera
Two MDC activists, Witness Maambire, who was Chief Election to Samuel Muzerengwa (MDC senator for Buhera), and a friend were abducted at gun point by Colonel Morgan Mzilikazi at Chapanduka Business Centre on 24 July 2008. The MP elected for the area Mr. Naison Nemadziwa, who was in the company of the abductees, had to run into the mountains for his safety.
The three had gone to fetch 17 MDC activists who were tortured on 17 July 2008 and were injured with bad cuts all over their bodies and broken legs and arms.
When they were at Chapanduka Business Centre, they parked their open pick up truck. The MP, Mr. Nemadziwa, got off the truck and went into the nearby village to fetch the injured persons leaving Witness Maambire, who was behind the wheel and his assistant in the truck.
Colonel Morgan Mzilikazi and a big number of armed militia came to the MDC truck and abducted Witness Maambire and his colleague at gunpoint. They also took their vehicle by force.
Villagers who were nearby tipped off the MP and he fled into the nearby mountains.
It is not clear whether Witness Maambire and his colleague were taken to a torture camp at Jori or other torture camps around Buhera. The whereabouts and safety of the MP are also not known.
The injured 17 people are also still in Buhera.
Honorable Nemadziwa was also abducted at the High Court in Harare three weeks ago and dumped in Buhera before being arrested and taken to the Police where he was charged with inciting violence. He was recently reported found.
The case has been reported to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Mutare Provincial Headquarters and the report was received by Assistant Commissioner Chagonda who however could not give us police escort to go and rescue the abductees.

I wrote a short letter and sent it to the UN, AU, SADC, and SA govt e-mails that are in the Action Contact Database to lobby even more about the Zanu-PF violence in Zimbabwe.
I think this should be presented as an Action Topic so people are encouraged to send a message to lobby for a quick end to this violence.

Dear Sir, Dear Maam,
I send you copy of the report below about which I am very concerned.
Pleadingly I ask you to do all that is in you power to put an end to these happenings in Zimbabwe.
Effectively the parties are holding talks in South Africa to deal a peacefull and standing resolution of the problem in Zimbabwe.
There is absolutely no reason that Zanu PF continue the violence toward the people and avoid injured to recieve medical attention.
Please help stop this madness.
Yours sincerely,

I pasted the report after this text and sent it to more than 200 mail addresses. I have had four replies since this morning so I think we must all do it to keep the pressure on.

Please notice a pattern here. In the early 80s ZAPU leaders and their activists as well as ordinary villagers and residents were treated in an exactly similar pattern.
Unfortunately the independence uforia and the tribalistic tone of the politics then took its toll on a party that was regionally and tribally singled out as traitors and dissidents.
Then came ZUM which was discarded as a party led by a drunkard.
The 2000 parliamentary elections, and the rejection of the much vouched for constitution later led to the singling out of white farmers as traitors, losing their farms in the most barbaric circumstances ever.
Now its the MDC’s supporters, beaten, tortured and killed country wide.
Firstly it was tribalism, then racism, then lastly selfishness by the top leadership.
All along it has been selfishness in the guise of different emotionally and hate charged descriptions.
I remember very well the chants, ‘pasi nemadissidents, pasi ne nhunzva tunzva, pasi naNkomo and now pasi ne MDC or pasi na Morgan’ at ZANU MEETINGS.
IF MIANMA/THAILAND can resist pressure form outside and within, Zanu must be learning or has masterminded a few tricks from this and remember mugabe goes there on holidays.
