Zanu PF thugs disrupt swearing-in ceremony

Three MDC MPs attending the swearing in ceremony of councillors at the Makoni Rural council offices in Rusape, Manicaland province were today ejected from the offices while hundreds of MDC supporters who had come to witness the occasion were beaten up by armed state security agents and Zanu PF militia.
The MDC MPs who were ejected from the ceremony are; Hon. Pishai Muchauraya, the MP for Makoni South, Hon. John Nyamande, Makoni Central and Hon. Proper Mutseyami, Musikavanhu.
Over 120-armed riot policemen, army, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) agents and Zanu PF supporters wearing party T-shirts, descended at the council offices in Rusape, ejected the MPs from the venue before they started assaulting MDC supporters who had come to witness the ceremony.
Inspector Shumba of the ZRP, Air Commodore Chigande and a Zanu PF member only identified as Maoresa led the terror squad.
Zanu PF also brought with them nine chiefs and losing Zanu PF councillors whom they want to impose in the chambers so that they will overturn the MDC majority in the council and elect the council chairman.
The MDC has 23 councillors while Zanu PF has 15.
