Zanu PF, Moyo in plot to reverse democracy
September 10th, 2008
Via an MDC Press Release:
The MDC has uncovered a plot being spearheaded by Zanu PF and celebrated political turncoat and Tsholotsho MP, Jonathan Moyo, to try and undo the democratic vote, which led to our national chairman, Hon Lovemore Moyo, being elected Speaker of Parliament.
It is a matter of public record that on 25 August 2008 MPs from all political parties in Parliament voted for Hon Moyo to become Speaker of the 7th Parliament of Zimbabwe.
Hon Moyo garnered 110 votes against former MP Paul Themba Nyathi who received 98 votes.
Two weeks after the elections Zanu PF and MP for Tsholotsho North Hon. Jonathan Moyo who were backing Nyathi want to reverse the people’s will in parliament by claiming that the voting process was not transparent and therefore want to reverse the outcome.
The MDC would like to make it clear that the MPs’ vote for Hon. Moyo was a true reflection of the will of the people of Zimbabwe. It represents a triumph for democracy, which has shocked the deadwood in Zanu PF. The election of Hon Moyo as Speaker of Parliament remains a historic occasion, which cannot be reversed by losers, regardless of whatever machinations they can concoct to reverse the people’s will.
The regime is so shocked by people power as expressed by the 7th Parliament that it will try to do anything to derail the train of democracy. The good thing is that we have history and the truth on our side. They are trying very hard to prevent a robust and vibrant Parliament, which will be a platform for constructive debate.
The MDC remains committed to serving the people of this country. We will not fail the people.

I thought it was Coltart who said the vote wasn’t transparent? Am I missing something? Did Coltart get it from somewhere else? I didn’t get that impression from what he said. What does Jonathan Moyo have to do with it? (I assume this is about the article yesterday). How does a statement by an MDC Mutambarare MP become a Zanu PF plot?
Is the MDC trying to say that David Coltart is in a plot with Zanu and Jonathan Moyo?
What’s going on? I’m lost !?!!

Moyo should not be taken seriously anymore. His time yakapfuura. He is now history. What he must be doing now is preparing his defence for his trial after Tsvangirai takes over.He must answer for POSA and AIIPA and for all those who perished because of these laws.

This is very worrying. It looks like the MDC is starting to play the same dirty game as ZANU, before they’ve even assumed power. Emotive words, references to ‘the will of the people’, obfuscation and lack of transparency… this does not bode well.

I hope Morgan is paying a bit of attention to the stories floating around about FIFA’s concern over Mbeki’s failure to deal with his older country cousin, Bob.
Because if those stories have any truth, the cleverest thing Morgan can do is REFUSE to sign anything. At all! Eventually Mbeki will be facing the music why SA had 2010 taken away…
Then he’ll find himself on the same side of the fence as Bob- on the slippery slope to hell.

Guess who will be shredding documents for the next 5 days. !!!!
or am I being cynical
September 12th, 2008 15:05
I don’t think you are, Fish Eagle. If they are busy shredding documents perhaps they won’r have time to find ways to screw the people over again. Or am I being overly optimistic?
September 13th, 2008 09:03
You are being far too optimistic, kuchema!
There is no way that Mugabe will go quietly.
