Not even the government companies want Zim dollars

November 27th, 2008

The day before yesterday it was the government’s Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) who refused to take my cheque.

Today, it is the government’s telephone communications company ‘Tel-One’ that refused to take my cheque. Tel-one are still accepting cheques but what happened is I multiplied the balance due on by account x10 and paid a huge credit to Tel-One. This is not acceptable and my cheque was rejected.

The balance due on my account was $83 million so being one of the absolute last places that will actually take cheques as payment, I decided to utilize the money that’s sitting in my bank account. Also coming up to Christmas shut down I was hoping that my account could be paid in advance for the December period.

The amount paid to them in no way affects my next months’ billing. In fact, with the continuous increases I cannot even budget forward to next month. I paid $830 million dollars.

They don’t want it.

Zimbabwe dollars are useless and everyone knows it.

My cheque was cancelled and I have to write another for the balance due only.

In the meantime, the banks are refusing to supply customers with new cheque books because apparently the printers require payment in foreign currency to enable them to do the work. Most banks are also refusing to open new accounts because of the cash shortages and the general chaos, they just cannot cope with any new clients.

And the creator of this chaos is mr gideon gono. But just yesterday we were stunned to hear mugabe praise the man’s efforts and extend his work contract that was due to expire at the end of this month, from 1 December 2008 for a period of another five years.

People are dying at a horrific rate. People are living under inhumane circumstances. This is not an elected government. They are warlords viciously working at suppressing the Zimbabwean people. gono has been consistent in one thing and that’s making sure Zimbabweans do not have access to their own earnings.

He has a lot to answer for and one day he will.

Gono the Clown features heavily this week in the Zanu PF Circus. Gono’s main purpose is to generate as much foreign exchange by whatever means, for Mugabe and his party clowns so that they can continue to live the funny lifetyle they are accustomed to. And any petty cash that’s left over goes towards running the government.

Gono the Clown has done a damn fine job looting in every direction,so therefore it is only reasonable for Mugabe to hold on to him. There’s no one else who can loot as well as Gono can.

But sadly, as history has shown us, all looting clowns eventually end up in tears and behind bars.

So Mugabe, Grace and a whole bunch of his clowns are off to Doha, Qatar, to attend the United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development?

They’ve got to be kidding! All he has financed and developed lately are huge mansions and fraudulent elections. I think this deserves a mass emailing to the UN again, to remind them to give him an earful, and not to allow him to repeat his demented anti western speeches.

We all know the only reason he goes to these conferences is to replenish the Mugabe clan’s luxury supplies.

OK, time for a musical break.

To the tune of Banana Day-oh…

Gono! Gono! Daylight come an’ we want him to go
Gono! Gono! Daylight come an’ we want him to go

He works all night from quarter to one.
Destroys his country ’till the morning come.
Come Mister tally man; share those US Dollars
We work and work but our economy is idle

One billion two billion three billion crunch!
Four billion five billion six billion crunch!

    Gono! Gono! etc etc

With heaps of long forgotten zeros
    Gono’s such a useful fellow
Zimbabwe treat this man with caution.
He’ll break your backs from sheer exhaustion

    Gono! Gono! etc.
