“Failure is not an option!” – Dr Gideon Gono

December 2nd, 2008

Gideon Gono website banner

We’d like to applaud Dr Gideon Gono, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, for being one of the first Zanu PF politicos to set up a website – especially one that has an email address on it – gg@gideongono.com.

Given the currency shortages and dying Zimbabwean economy, we are sure that many Zimbabweans would welcome the opportunity to ask Dr Gono to clarify his main principle – Failure is not an option!

And in the spirit of openness and transparency that this website suggests Dr Gono is in favour of, Zimbabweans would perhaps also like to give him some considered feedback on his performance so far.

Certainly. Perhaps Sok or one of the correspondent friends would like to summarise the statistics proving that failure is not only an option, but a reality since it has already occurred some time ago.

Surprise, surprise. Sent the following message. Bounced back. Looks like GG is not only a fake Reserve Bank Governor but also a fake email address.

    Dear Dr Gono

Congratulations on your new appointment and on your website.

Unfortunately, Zimbabwe is not a website but a real country and its people require real money, real food and real, clean water.

Failure clearly IS an option, since the whole world now knows about the tragedy of Zimbabwe. Do not take us all for fools. Please resign and tell the truth about what you have been doing with other people’s money. It may help you to avoid severe punishment for fraud, human rights abuses and genocide in the years to come, when your master will be long gone to his rest in hell, but you will still be alive to face the earthly music.

    Best regards

It would take great pleasure to hack this site and replace the crap with some reality. This so called Dr Gono lives in la la land.

I too tried sending a message via the form on the page listed “Contacts”. I guess I’ll wait and see if anything comes.

    Hello,
Like many other people worldwide, I am wondering why your website contains no information on the actual reality of Zimbabwe and that it is the most devastated country in the world. Also, I would like you know why you posted a fake email address that leads to nothing.

    Thankyou,
    Lisa in Canada

His website is a pathetic attempt at CV padding.

Amongst all the speeches, publications and numerous academic theorising there is not a mention of any project that has been successful, and where it has been substantiated by realistic facts and figures.

The trumpet he blows most certainly does belong to Gideon.

Incidently, the name Gideon means “Destroyer”.

And while his policies have driven Zimbabweans to starvation and cholera, robbed Aids patients of access to drugs, enriched himself and his family and his cronies through illegal financial, agricultural, fuel and diamond deals, he has had spare time to write a book on his experience at RBZ! Vile and disgusting. What an appalling excuse for a human being.

When we finally get rid of him – and his cronies – there will be legal retribution for every one of his despicable acts. The documentation is accumulating.
