Secretary for Welfare MDC asked to leave health meeting
Yesterday the Minister of Health, David Parirenyatwa hosted a meeting for NGO’s and stakeholders at the now closed down Parirenyatwa Hospital, to discuss the Health Crisis in Zimbabwe.
The Secretary for Health, MDC, was represented by Kerry Kay, Secretary for Welfare MDC. On arrival she was greeted warmly by Dr. Parirenyatwa and his deputy Mr. Muguti. However, half an hour later after the visitors register was signed she was called outside by a representative of the Foreign Affairs office and asked to leave the meeting. The reason given was that she was not formally invited by the Foreign Affairs Protocol office.
Mrs Kay spoke to Dr. Parirenyatwa and told him she felt that it was time to set aside political differences, that MDC and Zanu were supposed to be partners in a new government, and above all, the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe was paramount and she was committed to working together.
The decision was that she could not attend the meeting. It is interesting that there were two other people known to Mrs. Kay who were not formally invited but they were not asked to leave.
The commitment to inclusivity is obviously not on Zanu PF’s agenda, nor is the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe.

I think Mugabe has a grand plan under way and it doesn’t involve a unity deal at all.
It’s a master plan which he’s been hatching for a while, and at the same time appearing the good guy with Mbeki at his side.
It’s a nasty plan, but what else would you expect from a nasty man.
It’s time to put the final sanction screws on him and his nasty party leaders, as the US,UN & EU have promised.

Someone please tell Mugabe the good news that sanctions against his country have been lifted - about the time he first came into power, actually!!!! There are a few recent sanctions against himself and his nearest and dearest, just a very personal issue. Hmmm, but obviously one that is having an effect. Could we lobby anyone to deliver him ‘more of the same’??

Thanks David & Edwin for trying to do your work with all willing participants but others in the establishment are yet to see the light. kerry do not lose hope as the dawn is now very near. Our health crisis now needs a bi-partisan approach and a lot of political maturity. If weare to get another epidemic right now we will have a catastrophic situation indeed. To my friends, brothers and sisters in the secret and diplomatic services i would to say let us be proffessional and help the politicians to see right and wrong and profer the right advice for the sake of our beloved country and the future generations. Divided we fall, strongly bonded we arise again.

er, no thanks to David Parirenyatwa.
He was responsible for a huge wave of violence in the Murewa area after the March election. Reports of forced meetings at which Zanu-PF members of parliament including David Parirenyatwa and senior military officers oversaw the beating of people who voted against Mugabe. They were threatened with death if they voted for the MDC in the second round….we shall not forget!
