Preliminary results for the 2005 Weblog Awards
The preliminary results of the 2005 Weblog Awards are out. ‘This is Zimbabwe‘ is currently in third place, with 11.46% of the total vote. We’re 218 votes ahead of our nearest competitor.
The votes will be confirmed after they have been verified by the organiser. Votes that appear to be the result of irregular voting - cheating- will be deducated from the total votes. We’ve already had a bad experience with that, thinking we were doing better than we actually were, so we’re not celebrating coming third place until Monday 19 December when the final results will be announced. We’ll give you a final update then.
Thank you very much to all who have supported us!

Congrats on making 3rd place. I would have voted for you guys but I just learned about your blog, I think what you guys are doing is great! On a personal note, I visited Zimbabwe about 8 years ago and it was an amazing country with some of the nicest and friendliest people. Sadly it has a dictator that couldn’t give a sh*** about its people. At least Mugabe doesn’t hide it unlike our Venezuelan president that claims to help the poor but has only made more of them.

Congratulations on coming in third!!!…although i DO believe that your blog would have done even better if the irregularity in voting hadn’t happened for This is Zimbabwe:)I have been voting for your blog once a day and it has been fantastic coming to read your blog…I have been spreading the word to all friends and family about the happenings to the Zimbabweans and all our hopes and prayers are for all of you.I am currently based in Australia and I am glad and proud of the steps taken by the Australian government in condemning the awful acts done against Zimbabweans.Looking forward to seeing the final results on Monday!!!
God bless all of you:)

Congratulations! I have voted for your site everyday. Here in Venezuela, with a Chavez good pal with Mugabe, we do understand your pain. We have a common fight here. I wish you the best. I will link to your site also, as, since the demise of Letters from Zimbabwe, I was bereft of a good blog to your country.

Thanks for your comments Daniel and we’re very glad that you like our blog. If you are referring to Cathy Buckle’s ‘Letters from Zimbabwe’ then I’m pleased to tell you that you can still find them. We have a link to ‘African Tears’ - under Zimbabwe - amongst our long list of African sites. Cathy’s letters are regularly published there.
