Herewith some pictures taken today when Roy was released. We were not permitted to take pictures in the prison grounds. We nervously waited thinking that they were up to their tricks again. Rumours leaked that they were waiting for a call approving Roy’s release and it seemed to take forever. Finally, at around eleven, we were asked to move out of the gate because he was being prepared for release. Most of the crowd moved out and sang and danced waiting patiently for about half an hour until the convoy finally made its way towards the waiting crowd. A noisy and bigger convoy then proceeded to the MDC Provincial Office where Roy gave a news conference and greeted the exuberant, happy crowd. Roy took the opportunity to describe the appalling conditions in the prison and expressed a desire to travel to Buhera to pay his respects to the Prime Minister which he did on the way to Harare this afternoon.
