The Director of Prisons and the Ministers of Home Affairs and Justice are jointly and severally responsible for this human carnage. Where is their conscience? Whatever happened to human empathy. Of course, these are notorious prisoners but they still deserve to be treated with respect. It's high time people stop blaming President Mugabe for all the ills of the country. He is only the man at the top and rightfully assigned responsibility for running these prisons to some obscure ministers and prison directors. They need to be brought to justice sooner rather than later. I would urge fellow citizens of the world to actively promote the plight of these poor prisoners. Is this another Darfur or what? Africa is really a sad story. I hope that through your publicity and that of others, help can be mobilized in this horrendous situation. When I tried the telephone number of the Prison Chaplain it just rang and rang. Do you have any advice about when is a good time to telephone? Are there any charities / organizations (Rotary for example) that anyone knows of dealing specifically with this situation? I would like to help!
