Court orders Roy Bennett should be released on bail

Zimbabwe’s High Court on Friday ordered the release on bail of detained senior opposition MDC official Roy Bennett.

A court ruled earlier this week that Bennett — the MDC Treasurer — should stand trial on terrorism charges and ordered his detention. He is charged with illegally possessing arms for purposes of committing acts of terrorism which carries a maximum death sentence. Bennett denies the charge.
