Mahlangu arrested over Bennett’s case
ZLHR Press Release – 3 Nov : Zimbabwean police on Monday 02 November 2009 arrested human rights and media lawyer Mordecai Mahlangu for allegedly writing a letter to Attorney General (AG) Johannes Tomana.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)’s Law and Order Section at the Harare Central Police Station led by the notorious Detective Inspector Henry Sostein Dowa arrested Mahlangu, a senior partner with Gill, Godlonton & Gerrans from his Harare offices and detained him overnight at the police station.
The police allege that Mahlangu, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) wrote a letter to Tomana protesting against the subpoena directing Peter Hitschmann, to testify in Deputy Agriculture Minister Designate and Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Treasurer-General Roy Bennett’s trial despite the fact that Hitschmann’s statements were extracted through torture.
Mahlangu’s lawyers from the rights group ZLHR are attending to the human rights lawyer at Harare Central Police Station.

My daughter is doing A level and studting History and Languages. She is aspiring to be a lawyer, but to be honest I have been strongly discouraging her citing that lawyers have created their own serperate world where it’s them and them alone who have the custody of what is right, and can toss around with our well-being
I doubt if all the AG is pushing has anything to do with Bennet and Hitchinson. It has everything to do with displaying the knowledge they as lawyers spent at Law Schools creating their Utopia.
