Grace Kwinje - torture injuries to her left buttock and leg
Grace Kwinje - torture injuries to her left arm

Grace Kwinje - torture injuries to her right buttock

The morning began with visiting the victims of the early morning shooting at the mourning of the late Gift Tandere. The victims were Dickson Magondo and Naison Mashanbanaka. What happened? The Police sneaked up on the mourners at 3 am, with their vehicle lights off and then opened fire on the mourners. Naison was treated in hospital and released. When I arrived at the Hospital, Dickson was in theatre having an emergency operation and the Doctors thought they would have to amputate his foot. THEIR CRIME IS THAT THEY WERE MOURNING THE SENSELESS KILLING OF THEIR FRIEND.

12 midday saw the court appearance of all those arrested and brutally tortured and assaulted by the state agents, militia and military intelligence (the latter having introduced themselves as such!). THEIR CRIME WAS ATTENDING A PRAYER RALLY ON SUNDAY. It was a shocking sight. This will have been adequately covered by the media so I won’t go into details, save to say that one of the brutalised people was lying flat out on the floor of the court, in agony, and when I felt his pulse, it was clear that while the Prosecutor was refusing medical attention to all those brutalised, this man was going to die in court.

The defence lawyers called in a Judge, who ordered that all those present be sent for immediate medical attention.

There is much to record and to alert the world to, but it is late and I cannot think straight. I have seen many terrible human and animal rights abuses over the past 7 years, quite a few perpertrated against our family and farm workers, but today left me incredibly angry and on a number of occasions in tears.

In the morning I will recount some of the details, obtained first hand from the victims of these terrible abuses.

I would like to end on a positive note - the Pastors attended the court case and they came to the Hospital. They were refused permission to pray during the recess in the court proceedings, but they did anyway. I for one was reduced to tears by this powerful witnessing of Gods grace. They came later to the Hospital to pray with the victims and their families - the Police/militia refused them permission, so they went outside and prayed. We all know that prayer has no material boundaries.

Then at 5 pm Students Union members were arrested for singing God Bless Africa outside the Court.

God is indeed working in Zimbabwe, and the regime is terrified by His presence!!

Amen - He surely is doing His work and no mere mortal with the biggest nuclear weapon can stop our Mighty God and King.

Kerry - stay strong my girl. Its horrific to witness how debased humans can become but it makes you more resolute in how important it is to hold on to your Christian values and respect for the human race. I have seen the affect Zim has had on my own mother and she has not been physically beaten. My mum has just arrived from Zims. She is half the person she used to be. She is very thin (used to be a bit plump), withdrawn and a bit sad. She always used to be full of life and full of fun. Zims is tearing the heart and soul out of people and they are starting to lose hope. This lady has given them their hope back! Her suffering is not in vain and neither is Tsvengerai’s…they have exposed to the world the evil of our leader and have exacerbated the end which is inevitable.

The lady above is incredibly brave to endure what she had gone through. I take my hat off to her for her courage and fortitude and to all those Zimbabweans fighting the good fight. May God go with you - for you will succeed - of that I have no doubt!

I am sorry most of us are out of the country, keeping our families alive by earning forex to buy them food, but rest assured…we have not forgotten who we are and where we are from and why we are here!

    God bless you all.

Change will come to the Zimbabweans soon and I will keep our people in my prays. Thank you Kerry for your risk! It take a hell of a person to be in the environment of
Violence, Torture and no hope. I would like you to know your work is very very importance and appreciated. You are the eye and voice of our people. The danger you are putting yourself in to be that voice, speaks highly of you, you will also be in my prays.
