More on Nolbert Kunongo and the Anglican Church

Remember I wrote about the letter apparently signed by the Anglican Bishops endorsing ZANU PF and calling on the West to remove ’sanctions’?

Well, Episcopal Life have an intriguing article with regards the Anglican Church and Zimbabwe where the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, talks about the difficulties he has been having in using Anglican community resources in southern Africa to send food to starving Zimbabweans.

The main difficulty appears to go by the name of Archbishop Nolbert Kunongo (if this name means nothing to you then please read this here):

Williams met with Kunonga in March “to ask him whether he would contemplate not only rediscovering his soul, so to speak, in relation to the Mugabe government, but whether he would contemplate an arrangement which we would willingly broker with the World Food Programme administered through the Anglican church in Zimbabwe. The answer was ‘No’!

The corrupt Kunongo seems prepared to go to any lengths to further his own political agenda. This in relation to the aforementioned letter, from someone who was said to have signed it:

“I have not seen the full statement,” said Tawonezri. “No copy was sent to me. I did not sign the statement and I know that most bishops did not sign because the statement was written after the bishops left Harare.

Can a person who refuses to help facilitate food for the starving ever be described as a man of God? It’s outrageous!!

I don’t know a great deal about how the Anglican Church works, but can’t this evil person be excommunicated or something?

Someone who does seem more sensitive to the goings on and blogs at Not too much had suspicions about the letter. Seems you may have been correct Brian!

Well, the Anglican church is just like all other churches. The Roman Catholic has the Apostle Peter and the Pope as its head. The Anglican church has the queen as the head of its church. I have great Anglican priests friends who are doing God’s work – but I am sure they would do the same even if they were not priests. Its not what is in the church or name, but what is in one’s heart. In our hearts there is either God or the devil. The church and the status is just there for cosmetic reasons.
Hope I have been of help. I could write some more about the Archbishop of Cantebury comparing and contrasting him with this Kunongo man – same difference! Do you get the drift. This means therefore that for Zimbabweans to have food, Zimbabweans will have to gain their independence njengabantwana benhlabathi – Zimbabwe has the richest soil for both big and small farmers! Good luck.

Yes the west should remove the sacntions and leave the zimbabweans to wage their own struggle. Why should they starve Zimbabweans for them to feel that Mugabe is a dictator.I have a dictator in my country who have been killing students, journalist, burning press houses ,torturing and illegaly detaining oppositing militants, who cares,no one, just because the president did not forced any white farmers out of the country.By the way The Gambia is a member of the “good” in the war against terro. The very mistake that Mugabe did,had he been a member, perhaps Bush would have been able to convience Tony to forget about those socalled farmers.
