Global Peace Index
June 1st, 2007

We’ve highlighted Zimbabwe on the Global Peace Index map – a map that indicates that Zimbabwe has been assessed as having ‘Very Low’ levels of peace. Here’s a link to the world wide rankings, placing Zimbabwe 106th out of 121 assessed countries.
The background information to the project from the Vision of Humanity website:
… the [Global Peace Index] project’s ambition is to go beyond a crude measure of wars—and systematically explore the texture of peace. The hope is that it will provide a quantitative measure of peacefulness, comparable over time that will provide a greater understanding of the mechanisms that nurture and sustain peace. This, in turn will provide a new platform for further study and discussion, which will hopefully inspire and influence world leaders and governments to further action.
