We live in hope
As I fell into bed at around 2am I thought to myself, when this is all over I have full claim to at least a smidgeon of bob’s hard earned US$.
I need a holiday, and a month in a health farm would be fabulous.
This little crew of sok activists buried in Zimbabwe are on the edge of insanity with all the ups and downs of the past few days and so very, very little sleep. This, on top of the years of passionate commitment to our homeland.
For close on a decade I have slogged my guts out working to help create a corner of democracy in this blighted nation. Am I sorry? Absolutely not! I have met amazing people, worked on mad middle of the night cloak and dagger capers, spoken to the world through this very blog and all done so, so, secretly.
Fear often motivated me to turn my office upside down and destroy papers, discs, photos and erase memory sticks. In retrospect I wish I had kept them, for what a legacy it would be for my grandchildren one day. I have often thought how I would put these years into my CV, nobody would believe the stories. Fact is stranger than fiction.
Please God, one day we can look back and tell the grandkids about these dark hours and laugh.
The dream is so close we can taste it; but the regime continues to wield the upper hand, making us hang on and on and on.
Sitting by the radio and listening to an excruciating cacophony of the inane dead bc (ZTV) programming. This whole afternoon they have not given one result.
We live in hope.

Keep strong folks. Change will come. Change is coming. The old men in power will be gone. Perhaps not today or tomorrow, but they will be gone soon. Whatever else, there is a sea change happening in Zimbabwe. We all know what Zimbabweans want, whether or not the regime recognizes that. Eventually, they will have to, and the old man will go. Keep strong. The work you do is incredible. Thank you.

Please God that the reports that Mugabe’s allies are discussing a transition are true. Seems too much to hope for.

Advisors to Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe, are discussing how to hand over power with aides to the country’s main opposition leader, reports say.
World is awaiting results. A source close to the state’s electoral commission said Mr Mugabe has been told he is a long way behind Morgan Tsvangirai in preliminary results of presidential elections that took place on Saturday.
His advisors fear there could be an uprising if Mugabe were declared the winner, the anonymous source said.
Several diplomats said they had heard similar reports, but could not corroborate the information.
Zimbabwe’s security chiefs have told the Electoral Commission to issue results portraying a close race, to prevent celebrations that could ignite violence with rival party militants, the source said.”

Good luck. You’ve done a magnificent job of documenting the corruption and oppression and shining a bright light on it. I’m praying this succeeds in forcing the tyrant to walk away peacefully to give Zimbabwe a chance to recover.

The British newspapers believe the old man is negotiating.
We are all desperate for news. Is anyone at Sokwanele prepared to tell us the news from the streets?

My only hope now is that MDC does not make a blunder & get into a compromise. what else do they expect from mbwadhara dzezanu-pf? people are tired and we want MDC representing us without any compromises. i can’t stand the thought that they still think there is anything more to talk about with imbwa inonzi mugabe.tsvangi ngaamuke, mugabe wants to hoodwink us all.he has the state machinery to rig and stage a coup. tsvangi must work on dealing with that now. otheriwise he will not enjoy a day in the state house. no talks!
