Advisors to Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe, are discussing how to hand over power with aides to the country’s main opposition leader, reports say.

World is awaiting results. A source close to the state’s electoral commission said Mr Mugabe has been told he is a long way behind Morgan Tsvangirai in preliminary results of presidential elections that took place on Saturday.

His advisors fear there could be an uprising if Mugabe were declared the winner, the anonymous source said.

Several diplomats said they had heard similar reports, but could not corroborate the information.

We all know what Zimbabweans want, whether or not the regime recognizes that. Eventually, they will have to, and the old man will go. Keep strong. The work you do is incredible.
