Tendai Biti cracked me up
Tendai Biti knew how to lighten the mood and break the tension in the MDC press conference this morning…
In relation to the interminable wait for results from the ZEC, Biti said he had received a text message from a friend, who said to him that since Zimbabweans were very resourceful and creative, we could make a plan, and we could get them from the ‘parallel market’.
I almost fell over laughing!
For those of you who don’t know what this means because you don’t live in Zimbabwe, it refers to the way we have survived for years now on a black market (parallel market) economy.
So, ZEC (if you are listening) if the scarce resources called RESULTS are not available soon, we’ll use our ingenuity and get them off the black market!
The press conference went on and basically confirmed the MDC’s position that Morgan Tsvangirai was the new President of the country, citing the figures we provided in the PVT table in our previous post.

Haha, yes he really did know how to lighten the mood. As someone in Zimbabwe, I was just wondering what you think is going to happen next? Do you think ZANU-PF will concede defeat, or force a run-off? And if there’s a run-off, do you think Mugabe will be able to rig it in his favour?
As a Zimbabwean living abroad, I am incredibly grateful to websites such as this for keeping us all updated on the situation! Thank you so much!!

The figures given in the PVT table quoted on this site do not correspond to the numbers of votes cast as cited by Biti at the same press conference. Now the press (AP) and bloggers on NewZimbabwe are making mincemeat of him.
I can’t find the underlying “votes cast” figures on the PVT site, even the lists for results per province don’t seem to supply votes cast on that site.
I hope someone out there can reconcile these two sets of results, as Biti ended up giving the impression that they were the same figures when they are not. I would not like to see him made to look as though he was trying to massage the results.

I salute zimbabwean for giving the old man the red card. The old man said losing the election would be a curse to him, God had to make a difficult choice, giving the curse to the people of zimbabwe by making Mugabe win and realising that his people had suffered for too long gave victorty to the people of zimbabwe. It might be difficult for Mugabe to imagine life from state house, but he must get the tip from CHigwedere, and perhaps become a village headman himself. Congratulations Zimbabwe. Now is the time to rebuild our country. There is a lot to be done. President Tsvangirai congratulations.

I am a bit pertubed by the actions taken by Tendai Biti I believe that he should have waited until the lapse of the mandatory period.Had this period then lapsed Biti would have had every right to publish those results as it is one wonders whats going to happen. Its giving these people an unnecessary excuse to do as they will with our results
