The decision by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai to settle the maintenance case in which his former lover Locardia Karimatsenga wants US$15 000 every month is commendable.
This is a respectable move which Zimbabwean have applauded.
In fact this is what the respected MDC leader should have done in the first place rather than letting the case get out of hand. He should learn not to wash his dirty linen in public.
Lawyers representing both Tsvangirai and Karimatsenga refused to disclose the negotiations on the matter and in my mind they are quite right. It is not a public affair. However, Tsvangirai’s behaviour has already cost him dearly and it is inevitably going to be used by Zanu Pf going forward. His indiscretion is a gift to his opponents as they love to bring up the PM’s juicy love life in the effort to denounce him come elections.
In the past they accused him of inviting sanctions, now it is going to be his treatment of the women in his life. I attended a rally and Philip Chiyangwa, a ZANU(PF) prodigal son, warned the women there to run away with their girl children when they see Tsvangirai.
But, finally, the Premier has taken a respectable path in solving the Karimatsenga maintenance issue.
