The ZEC has finally announced results for 207 constituencies. The remaining three constituencies (out of the 210 that exist) will be determined by by-elections following the deaths of three candidates prior to the March 29th elections: Pelandaba/Mpopoma, Gwanda South, and Redcliff .

Zimbabweans still have their precious sense of humour - inspite of inflation!
Jonothan Moyo, who stood as an Independent, has won his seat in Tsholotsho North! I just want to know how that happened. Perhaps he talked all the Moyo’s in Tsholotsho into believing that they are indeed his kith and kin and that he will return the favour… or perhaps, no one else contested in that province … or, maybe it was the heat, nenzara (hunger)! Well, whatever the reason, that you people of Tsholotsho for being true to your humourous side - you too like Jona are “UNBELIEVABLE”

Your post states that
“The final count is as follows: MDC Tsvangirai leads with 99 seats; Zanu PF has 97 seats; MDC Mutambara has 10 seats; and Jonathan Moyo has his one seat.”
Yet the pie chart underneath shows the Zanu PF holding 45.9% and MDC Tsvangirai holding only 42.8%..
I think there’s a mistake somewhere..

Makorokote! Amahlope! to all those who have worked so hard.
And thank you to Sokwanele. I am checking you hourly and I don’t know what we would have done without you.

TE..the pie chart is a share of the total votes, not a breakdown of the seats won. We can only assume that more people have ‘voted’ for mugabe than the MDC, but the MDC have won more seats.

Echoing Jo. Thank you so much Sokwanele. For those of us far away from home you preserved our sanity in these very emotional 5 days.

Zanu PF won more votes than parliamentary seats because they stuffed boxes with ballot papers after having chased away opposion polling agents. Some of them even managed to vote twice. To the people of Zimbabwe, Mugabe will never rule again. Even if the run-off is confirmed, lets hit the last nail on his coffin

My heart hurts with those who used to blame Morgan for not stepping down for Makoni and those who wanted him to share evenly with Mtambura. I hope hamusi kutambura naMtambura wenyu kana kushaya simba sa Simba wenyu. in the final analysis Ncube should not be blamed for destroying the MDC he must only be blamed for making Job Jobless.

Moyo won Tsholotsho but he has an alliance with MDC-T because they did not field a candidate there against him… Look at

Mugabe by nature of things should concede defeat and leave gracefully. No amount of pressure or force will sway the people of Zimbabwe from fighting for their basic right to survive, and to rebult the ruined economy. We are determined that justice shall be done.

I suppose I must ask the obvious. What next? What is the possibility of violence should there be a run off and if there is a revolt of sorts, how will the MDC camp fair? I guess it’s no contest who has the big weapons.
pamwe chete.

If there is violence, which I hope there isn’t, then it will be because MDC can get the guns. [...]
I hope there’s no runoff. Robert should get out while he still can.

If the MDC declined to particpate in the run off and Mugabe became President by default, could the MDC then hold, in the first sitting of the new Parliament, a vote of no confidence in President Mugabe or have him impeached for human rights abuses? It seems to me this could be a legal way of overcoming the problem. Would one of your legal boffins please explain the ramifications of going this route?
