A strategi of non violence is the right thing to do - but I'm afraid it will only work if combined with a lot of media attention from outside. For this to happen we need brave journalists and cameramen inside Zimbabwe.

Sky News seem to be the best "western" source at the moment ( see the report at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmlqtyczKPM or at www.skynews.com) but Sky mostly has a UK audience. Video coverage of the assaults shown on BBC World and CNN are vital if the impact is going to spread...

The UK, the US and other Western countries already want to take the situation in Zim to the UN security council, but again our friend Mbeki opposes:

>>A spokesman for the U.S. mission to the United Nations, Benjamin Chang, made clear the United States would also press for a Security Council discussion about Zimbabwe's election.

"We consider the ongoing crisis in Zimbabwe as a concern for the international community," he said. "We intend to raise that concern on Wednesday."

South Africa, which holds the rotating presidency of the 15-nation Security Council, opposes putting Zimbabwe on the meeting's agenda, saying the issue has nothing to do with international peace and security.

(Reuters, Monday 14 Apr 2008)

Just when we thought there would be some semblance of a democratic voting process...............

This is ludicrous! Each development brings more anger and disbelief at the chain of events (read lies!).

It must be very nice living in ZANU PF-land - you can do anything you like!!!!!

Unbelievable! What is the solution? Those of us who are writing/emailing the powers that be seem to be coming up empty-handed - what will it take?!!!

Keep strong Zimbabwe.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('188443','Kim'); return false;">Reply to this comment</a> --- <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('188443','Kim','Just when we thought there would be some semblance of a democratic voting process...............\r\n\r\nThis is ludicrous!
Thank you so much for your updates - news from within the country is what the Zimbabwean diaspora needs the most.

This news is unbelievable. How the government can continue to claim a democratic state when it is so clear that the police, army, judiciary, press etc etc are all on Mugabe's side, is beyond me. Those "leaders" around Zimbabwe, specifically Mbeki, need to grow a backbone and stand up to this tyrant. The people of Zimbabwe have suffered for too long.
