Law Society of Zimbabwe: Model Constitution of Zimbabwe (2010)
  1. Every citizen of Zimbabwe has the right—
    1. to form, to join, to participate in the activities of, and to recruit members for, a political party or organisation of their choice;
    2. to campaign for a political party or cause;
    3. to free, fair and regular elections for any elective public office established in terms of this Constitution or any other law;
    4. to participate in peaceful political activity intended to influence the composition and policies of the Government;
    5. to make political choices freely;
    6. to participate, individually or through civic organisations, gatherings or groups or in whatever manner in peaceful activities to influence, challenge or support the policies of the Government or any political or whatever cause;  and
    7. to uphold and defend this Constitution.
  2. Every citizen of Zimbabwe who is of or over the age of eighteen years has the right—
    1. to vote in all elections and referendums to which this Constitution applies, and to do so in secret;  and
    2. to stand for election for public office and, if elected, to hold such office.
  3. For the purpose of promoting a multi-party democracy, the State must provide funds to political parties, and must ensure that within two years from the commencement of this Constitution a law is enacted—
    1. setting out the manner and extent of such funding;  and
    2. providing sufficient funding for small political parties to take into account the importance of their participation in an open, just and accountable democracy;

      but such funding may be withheld from political parties which do not uphold the principles and values of this Constitution or whose internal structures and procedures are not reasonably democratic.

Kariba Draft Constitution
  1. Subject to this Constitution, every Zimbabwean citizen has the right to–
    1. free, fair and regular elections for any legislative body, including a local authority, established under this Constitution or any Act of Parliament;
    2. free, fair and regular elections to the office of President and to any other elective office; and
    3. free and fair referendums, whenever they are called in terms of this Constitution or an Act of Parliament.
  2. Subject to this Constitution, every adult Zimbabwean citizen has the right to–
    1. vote in referendums and in elections for any legislative body established under this Constitution, and to do so in secret; and
    2. stand for public office and, if elected, to hold such office.

  1. Every citizen has the right –

    4. to participate in peaceful political activity intended to influence the composition and policies of the Government;
    5. freely to make political choices;
    6. to participate, through civic organisations, in peaceful activities to influence and challenge the policies of Government;
    7. To uphold and defend this Constitution;
  2. Every citizen who has reached the age of eighteen years has the right to vote, to do so in secret, to stand for election for public office and, if elected, to hold office.
  3. For purposes of promoting a multi-party democracy, the state must provide funds to political parties.
