Law Society of Zimbabwe: Model Constitution of Zimbabwe (2010)

The State must take measures to ensure the rights of older people––

  1.  
    1.  to fully participate in the affairs of society;
    2. to pursue their personal development;
    3. to live in dignity and respect and be free from abuse;  and
    4.  to receive reasonable care and assistance from their families and the State.

23 | Elderly persons

Kariba Draft Constitution
  1. The State and society must take reasonable measures to secure respect, support and protection for elderly persons and to encourage their participation in the life of the community.
  2. In particular, the State must endeavour, within the resources available to it, to–
    1. provide facilities, food and care for elderly persons who are unable to provide for themselves;
    2. develop programmes to give elderly persons the opportunity to engage in productive activity suited to their abilities and consistent with their vocations and desires; and
    3. foster social organisations aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly persons.
